HISTORY OF THE EVENT

Manx Stars In Their Eyes began back in the year 2000 when Scott & Jo Christian, David Griffin & Mel Gribbin all witnessed, first hand, the tireless efforts of Hospice and decided to raise some well deserved funds to give something back. To assist with the organisation and on the night hosting of the event, Paul Moran, a good friend of Scott, decided upon the plan of action.

The night became an annual event for 3 years at Summerland until someone saw a huge rock hanging over the roof of the building so the decision was made to drop the whole building to the ground? So the hunt went on to find a venue big enough to hold the 1,400 people who wanted to attend the annual event.

Then came the the opening of the new Villa Marina fresh from its massive £15 million refurb'. And what a venue it is. The Villa has seating for 450 in the upper circle, 464 in the lower tiered stalls and for a further 400 on the corporate tables on the dance floor. It is surrounded on both levels by a spacious corridor and is serviced by four bars, each with their own special character.

The annual event will continue whilst the Stars team receive the support which has been both forthcoming and very much appreciated over the years. None of the team are paid for their efforts, ALL of the proceeds go to the chosen charity/cause.

If you would like to comment on past shows or have any suggestions for future sponsorship, please Email the Stars Team with any ideas you may have.

Last year, the Stars team chose to support Rebecca House at the Isle of Man Hospice.

The amount raised on the night was approx £18,000 which will go towards the £400,000 annual running costs of the wing.
